Ingredients

1 box, chocolate cake mix
4 eggs
3.8 oz package, instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped baking chocolate
FOR FROSTING
8 oz container, whipped topping ( ex: Cool Whip/TruWhip)
4 oz package, semi sweet, baking chocolate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2- 9 inch round cake pans.

In a mixing bowl, beat together dry cake mix, sour cream, eggs, melted butter and pudding mix.

Beat well until fluffy and smooth.

Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips.

Pour batter evenly between the two cake pans.

Bake 30-32 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let cakes sit for approx 10 minutes before removing from pans. Then, cool completely on wire rack before frosting.

FOR FROSTING

In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate for one minute. Then, stir. Add in whipped topping and microwave again for 30-45 seconds. Stir again. Be sure chocolate is fully melted and smooth. It should be mixed completely with whipped topping.

Refrigerate for approx 15-30 minutes or until set and thicken.

When frosting is ready, frost one layer of cake. Top with second layer and frost with remaining frosting.
